SD17 also includes 14 School Districts from the western boundaries of Houston, running west thru I-10 and 290 and south thru 59 and 281.
Miguel is an educator, currently teaching for the KIPP charter school organization, as well as a small business owner. He is a former Local Chairman for the SMART-TD Local 11, a Locomotive Engineers Union, as well as a Safety Facilitator for the Union Pacific Railroad.
“I am on the ground level of where everything happens in society. I spend my days in the classroom teaching and working with future leaders, and I spend my evenings, nights and weekends working to maintain a small business hit hard by Covid-19. WE MAKE IT WORK! I have years of BLUE COLLAR leadership experience and I strongly believe in the Democratic values we hold dear.
However, make no mistake; as the real world, common sense candidate, I understand that regardless of party affiliation, or culturally held beliefs, we are all on this rock together. We will continue to live, work, and play together and should respect each other's opinions without resorting to violence or leveraging government authority to push our ideals on others.
I also believe in the Constitution, with all its amendments, including the 2nd. I know that the founders of our nation wrote this document understanding that the future was something they could not begin to imagine, and that their Constitution was meant to be a document of guidance, not to be spun by majority masses, looking for loopholes to exploit to maintain or extend power.”
